The Holy Family
During this Christmas season, we turn our attention to the Holy Family. Consisting of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the model of the Holy Family serves as a profound example of love, faith, and devotion for all families, regardless of the dynamics.
In their humble home in Nazareth, Joseph, Mary, and Jesus lived a life of simplicity and deep spiritual commitment. Mary, chosen by God to be the mother of Jesus, exemplifies unwavering faith and obedience to God’s will. Her “yes” to the angel Gabriel’s message is a testament to her trust in God’s plan, inspiring families to embrace faith and trust in their own lives.
Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus, is a model of righteousness and protective care. As a carpenter, he provided for his family through honest work, demonstrating the dignity of labor and the importance of providing for one’s loved ones. His silent strength and steadfastness in following God’s guidance, even in the face of uncertainty, encourages those leading families to do so with integrity and faithfulness.
Jesus, the center of the Holy Family, embodies love and humility. From His birth in a manger to His early years in Nazareth, He lived a life of obedience and respect towards His parents. The Holy Family’s daily life was marked by prayer, work, and mutual support, offering a blueprint for families to cultivate a home environment rooted in love, faith, and service to one another.
By reflecting on the Holy Family, families can find inspiration to grow closer to God and each other, fostering a household of peace and holiness.
Jubilee Year - Pilgrims of Hope
Throughout 2025, Resurrection will be participating in the Jubilee Year of Hope. On December 24, Pope Francis opened the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica to begin this special year of celebration to rekindle hope and faith. We are encouraged to participate in various spiritual activities, including pilgrimages, prayers, and acts of charity. The theme of hope is central, aiming to inspire a renewed sense of trust and optimism in the future,.
THE JUBILEE PRAYER
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen

READINGS FOR THIS WEEKEND’S MASSES
VIRTUALLY SUNDAY REFLECTION
The Christmas season can bring out the complexities of family dynamics. The paradox of family unity amidst struggles and brokenness can be difficult to live with, especially when we feel we are falling short of the model of the Holy Family. But Jesus calls us to form a new kind of family beyond biological ties, to reach out to those in need and to embrace a broader definition of family as part of the body of Christ. Join Tony as he reflects on this weekend's scripture readings.
