October, Month of the Rosary
Every October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary, mainly because the liturgical feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. It was instituted to honor Mary in gratitude for her protection.
The Rosary is primarily a scriptural prayer. It is a summary of the entire Gospel because it draws its mysteries from the New Testament and is centered on the great events of the Incarnation and Redemption. When we pray the Rosary, we are asking Mary to pray for us so that we might be more focused on the life of Jesus.
Your Church of the Home can pray the Rosary together and reflect:
How can we better follow Jesus as Mary did?
What sins can we petition God to help us combat?
Which mystery of Jesus’ life is most important to me?
Ruby Red Reynebeau invites all creatures – great and small – to a special blessing! All pets of all kinds, makes, and models are welcome at the outdoor Mass but should be appropriately leashed, caged, or kenneled so as to not intimidate, terrify, fight with, or eat others present for the blessing …. Weather permitting -- and should the weather force us indoors – the pet blessing will be canceled – please no pets inside the church! Ruby says – Woof-Woof (thank you!) PS bring your lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor seating.
This pet blessing custom is conducted throughout the world in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, whose feast day is October 4, in honor of St Francis’s great love for creations and all of God’s creatures.
Join us for Mass this weekend in person at 4:00 PM on Saturday, 8:30 or 10:30 AM on Sunday, on www.gbres.org/live, our YouTube channel, and our Facebook page.
